America's Army 3 is the full version release of the official U.S. Army game and has more authentic military elements including training, technology, weapons, and audio than any other military game produced so far. AA3 delivers stunningly realistic characters (the Army had Special Forces Soldiers show up at the studio to get every movement just right), environments, lighting effects, animations, and team-based experiences.
This is a first person shooter game where players are bound by Rules of Engagement (ROE) and gain experience as they navigate challenges in team-based, multiplayer, force-on-force operations. With 15 different map/mission combinations and exclusive advanced training that allows you to unlock new abilities and customize your gear, you'll experience Soldiering in the U.S. Army like never before.
AA3 is produced by the Army and it therefore has to suit standards above those of normal games. The aim of the U.S. Army in developing this game so that it can reach one of its main target audiences which in their case would be the teenagers that are approaching enlistment age.
Therefore, America's Army must maintain a rating of T for Teen. If AA lost its Teen rating, it would inhibit its distribution to this audience, which would inhibit its purpose as an educational tool for aspiring soldiers. This is one reason certain things like blood, knives and visually realistic wounds, but to name a few, are not a possibility for AA. This makes it a clean, fun for all game that can be enjoyed by young and old and even those that are a little skittish.
Teamwork and adherence to Army Values are integral to success in America's Army 3. Players will be rewarded for in-game actions which mirror the Army Seven Core Values such as loyalty, respect, and duty. Acting like a real Army Soldier and honoring the Warrior Ethos will garner you the respect of your teammates and accelerate your virtual Army career. The mission with AA3 is to produce the most authentic U.S. Army game experience possible. So of course the Army Values play a dominant role in that mission. The Army Values are the measure of performance in the scoring system.
When you charge into the line of fire to go and treat a fallen comrade, that is Selfless Service and you get points for that action. When you obey your Squad Leader's orders to go after a particular objective or cover an area and you do so, you get points for Duty. AA3 tries to capture the intent and spirit of these Values and communicate them and their importance to the player. America's Army, though a first person shooter, has never been about killing the enemy. The game is about accomplishing your mission and doing so in a manner that brings Honor to yourself, your comrades, and to the Army as well as instilling these values in your own live and making integrity and honor a part of your day to day life as a result of playing this game.
America's Army 2 has brought a diverse group of people (young and old) from all over South Africa together and although we might not always be able to recognize each other on the streets we have formed a bond with each other and has made it our mission to promote the game amongst our friends, family and co-workers. With the launch of AA3 we are even more excited with all the new prospects that the game has to offer.
