Unfairly kicked from mix.

Earlier today I played a mix. I opted to use the shield and hand grenade as my melee weapon.

It is my understanding that the rules for mixes are flexible and open - as long as everyone is in agreement, weapon choices are very open.

The opposing team did not like me using these weapons. My team had no problem with them. I was asked to stop using them by the opposing team, and when I didn't I was kicked from the mix.

May I get clarity on this issue. (1) What are the rules for weapons in a mix (2) I don't think it's right that I got kicked when doing something the opposing team doesn't like it. I feel this is an abuse of admin privilege.

Thanks,

ediT.

Re: Unfairly kicked from mix.

The rules for mixes are the same as in pickups regarding weapons, we play using mostly vanilla TF2 weapons and some weapons which are unlocks (Not craftable or drop weapons). I can't seem to find a set list on the community website www.tf2.co.za but the list of weapons allowed in comps are similar to the rules in the dogaming cup and the ESZ cup:

http://portal.esports-zone.co.za/rulesets.zip

Allowed weapon unlocks:

 Equalizer

 Bonk

 Sandvich

 Cloak and dagger

 Mackerel

 Frying pan

 All Med except vitasaw and amputator

Also observe the class limits of:

Class Limits:

 1 Medic

 1 Demoman

 1 Heavy

 2 of the rest

It's very unusual for a demoman in a competitive game to use a shiled, as he will not get to mid very fast which is needed in this game, also were you in the mix right from the beginning - were you one of the 12 original players who waited for captains to choose teams or did you just join and play? I'm not familiar with you in terms of competitive TF2.

Also on a side note, these so called 'admins' are actually team managers or captains with admin only to change maps etc on competitive servers, they are not official IS gaming admins.

@ Aider.

If you don't like the contridiction I'm sorry. I used the unlocks from the begining of the game, and nobody had a problem with it.

The opposition only started complaining when there were 10 or so minutes left on the clock. So I presumed that for the other 20 minutes no one on the opposing team had a problem with me using the weapons.

@ Hammy.

I appreciate  the feedback on the rules, and in future I will use the default weapons/classes.

I was one of the original 12 players to start the mix and wait for the captians to choose. The only reason I used the shield and hand grenade was for fun and to have a laugh.

I realise that the "adminsistrators" are team managers/captains are not actual IS administrators. But I think there should be a limit as to how much power they have during mixes.

Thanks,

ediT.

You should make sure you know the ROE before playing a competitive game, whether its a pickup, mix, clan match or comp. It doesn't matter if the opposing team started moaning only after a while, they had the ROE to stand on.

When they asked you to stop using it, you should've, why didn't you? You were disrupting the game, l2yield :P

I don't know TF2, but ROE shouldn't based on what people like or don't like. Different people have different game styles and all people should respect that. Maybe I'm completely off as like I said I don't know TF2.

Re: Unfairly kicked from mix.

MiX/Pickup/Clannies all follow the same Weapon rule. If the opposition has asked you to change the weapon then you should have.

Similarly they follow the same format, 30 minute format/ 1 x demo/ 1 x heavy / 1 x medic / 2 of the rest.

If you are a new player then, the person that kicked you should have asked you maybe another time, if you are old then this is not unfair. According to this post you new exactly what he asked you to do and the kick was because you ignored.

Re: Unfairly kicked from mix.

Do we have a link to the rules?

Is there a link anywhere that states the rules for Mixes, Clannies and Pickups?

There seems to be a lot of opinion and I'm just curious as to what this opinion is based on.

Thanks,

ediT.

Re: Unfairly kicked from mix.

Many people will argue that there are not very many rules in mixes. I find that mixes could help test out weapons which we have never really tried. I find ETF2L rules are alot better than our "almost Vanilla TF2 gameplay".. People say "we are not ETF2L we are TF2CSA, but the thing is that if we allowed people to just test out weapons in mixes we could have more fun in mixes and even clan matches.

The funny thing is that, even with my comment it will just get pushed aside "CUZ IM IN SEVERE". :)

Re: Unfairly kicked from mix.

In etf2l they test the weapons, they get feedback from a lot of players, weapons have a trial period and after all of this it is decided to ban or allow the weapon. Most of our rules are the same, as for the weapons in this case, neither was allowed in etf2l.
