Please can we go to Steam directly?

I'm a fixed IP user on your network and its starting to get to me with all the caching and crap thats being done. Steam continually crashes due to timeouts as its permanently waiting for steam.isgaming.co.za to respond. I cannot now even install games I bought on my mac either because steam.isgaming.co.za never responds to it. Did I mention I'm an uncapped fixed IP adsl customer that has loyally been paying for over 3 years now to have this and cache.is.co.za give me grief during the day while trying to work and steam.isgaming.co.za after hours when trying to play??

I appreciate that you want to make it a better service for us all and it will save you loads by keeping the bandwidth local but seriously I'm also like all the others going to switch service providers because enough is enough now. Besides the latency is so bad even to the local servers nevermind the International servers I normally switch to my AXXESS account to do any gaming Internationally but that kind of goes against me paying thousands a month for supposedly the best there is when it clearly isn't and I'm not going to pay more to download steam games when I have ALREADY paid.

Yes I created this account just to bitch about this as it doesn't help bitching at Steam because they send us back here where we have no way of contacting anyone to get a resolution. I will obviously now call IS in the morning as this has seriously gone on long enough!

Hi Mutha,

The timeouts you are getting has nothing to do with the server or the connectivity from the internet to the server. If you are experiencing timeouts to two different servers there is clearly an issue with the account or on your line. Best would be to take it up with whoever you are paying for this line.

A few questions:

1. Are you just starting up steam, set it to africa from the content location and letting it download?
2. Who is your ISP? If internet Solutions, have you spoken to your account manager?
3. Are you using SteamWatch?
4. Are you using one of these new Uncapped accounts or is it a proper Business ADSL account?

Krad.

Are you using a local only account?

I am running Route Sentry. So it is taking off my now capped telkom account and I am using my 10gb local part of that account.

But I am also trying it out with another SIAX based international account with out route sentry and the same thing happens.

Since Friday, when most of the ISPs Cut back over to Seacom, there has been problems where certain users have been timing out as well as having problems connecting to steam. This will sort it self out pretty soon.

I got an email through my Uni explaining that although Seacom is back and functional, problems are still expected as the re-routing of traffic is adjusted back to pre-Seacom cable snap. They expect that the issues will be rectified by the close of business on Friday.

1. Yes. Can't find location seting in MAC Steam.

2. 4.  Business account. Given up speaking to them way to many issues. Changing service providers when contract runs out soon.

3. Never heard of that.

Thanks

Re: Please can we go to Steam directly?

This is pointless! 4mb uncapped and I get 12k from IS. FFS I'm watching videos etc from steam without glitches at over 100k. At this rate I will have my game in 5 days plus. Go IS go!!! (extreme sarcasm) Its faster for me to fly there and fetch the damn thing off their servers myself. BTW Telkom I test and I get the download at 380k....

Why aren't IS punishing the Telkom users as well? Thats damn unconstitutional!
