This post is about some changes being discussed to alter the map rotation in the public TF2 servers. Please take a read and post your comments and feedback below.
There are currently thirty-four official TF2 maps with various game modes:
- CP (Capture Point)
- TC (Territorial Control)
- CTF (Capture the Flag)
- PL (Payload) / PLR (Payload Race)
- ARENA
- KOTH (King of the Hill)
CP / TC Maps (12)

There's already an arena server, and a soldier practice server, so the ARENA map type seems pretty well covered. This leaves 25 maps - 12 CP maps and 13 other maps (4 KOTH, 4 PL/PLR & 5 CTF)
It is suggested that the following changes occur:
Rename the
-IS- All Maps Server RTV
to
-IS- CP Server (RTV)
and make it a dedicated CP map server.
Rename the
-IS- Granary / Badlands / Turbine AT
to
-IS- KOTH / PL / CTF Server (RTV)
and make it a dedicated KOTH, PL/PLR and CTF server.
This way all the maps are evenly balanced across the two servers and all have RTV.
Players also know what type of maps to expect in the rotation based on the server name.
Admin can run an AllTalk vote as and when they see fit to enable it, rather than it being on by default.
The Nominate function (used to add maps into an RTV vote) will also be enabled by default.
