Spicing up ISGaming!

Ok... so here is the deal... ISGaming has been pretty static in the last month or so from the gamers point of view. A lot has been happening in the background and I would like to let you in on what has been happening.

So lets start with an update, We have added new games, like Quake Live and Wolfenstein, also removed some of the un-played games like Lord of the Rings Conquest(PC), Left 4 Dead and the unranked Battlefield 2 servers.

The admins and admin systems has also been cleaned up and has been more defined. These changes have allowed us to streamline and improve the responsiveness for the games that are currently hosted and has given us space to add new games in the future.

The second part of this post is where we would like for you to have your say.

We would like to know from you what you think about the service as a whole, the individual games, the admins, the player base. In addition to this we would like to know what you would want changed, be it plugins, player counts, more servers, more specific setups of servers, the website, events, competitions, etc... basically anything that will make your experience more enjoyable at ISGaming.

ISGaming is nothing without the community and everyone should and does have a say as to how it should be run.

Please comment on this post with your views and opinions, be honest but keep it clean :)

Re: Spicing up ISGaming!

I'd like to see the admins setting an example on behaviour. A lot of the time they seem to be there to have fun instead of working. Much tomfoolery gets ignored or it's even the admin himself. I've sent quite a few messages to Kradenko about this issue weeks ago. Hopefully I will get a response soon.

Is there a reason admins are excused from TK punishment? If there is, I'd like to hear it.

I'd like to see the CSS Sniperless server improved. A lot of the problems, I reckon, are unfairly blamed on Telkom.
A locally based server would help with our cap and improve playability by reducing the latency. WebAfrica have introduced their own local bandwidth WAGE servers, so why not IS?

If we do leave the server for technical reasons, the "retry" command has been nobbled. There is a delay of +\- 15 seconds, which means we get relegated to the queuing system again. This can mean a long wait for what essentially was not our fault. The same applies to the "spectate" function. People use it to go AFK for whatever reason and then find themselves kicked. Can this be changed as well. I know there are reasons for doing this, but it is very annoying.

It has become the trend to flash people who annoy you. I believe this is largely because the admins don't intervene in disputes much. I'd like to see some possible ideas thrashed out about how to deal with it. I propose introducing console logging for who threw flashes and from where. When a flashie does go off - you also don't see the associated notification, which is probably why people often get away with it or wrongly accuse teamies. The same applies to smokies.

Quite a few people also don't seem to get flashed. Perhaps you could invoke a system of 'flash damage', like you would from a nade. Of course it wouldn't affect your HP, but would help in spotting the hackers. I'm so tired of chucking one and getting shot by the guy I threw it for.

Thanks for the forum.

I would like to see the game stats reset once every two months instead of the usual once a quarter. Especially now that it's easier to get points than it used to be.

With Regards to a few points:

Quote:
1) admins not working and just having fun. Supply us with screenshots and demo's. I will also say that there goes alot of work behind scenes. not always when u online are we working our ass's off.

Quote:
2) Im pretty convinced that the flash "mod" is too bugg.

Quote:
3) IS is a locally based server. We even have our own Valve database so when updating you can use your local cap. When playing on IS. Our servers VAC Secure. This requires an internet connection to VAC's servers.

Quote:
4)Im personally one of the admins when the server is full and some1 has afked for more then 3 rounds in spec mode. I will kick them. Often we find people attempt to stack teams or wont join a lossing team or are just blatently afk for a long period of time.

I hope this helps with regards to your queiries for now

Dear ISanta,

I would very much like the new CS KIDDIE action figure with the detachable limbs and added accessories like coffee mugs, twinkies and mayo marmite samwiches. Its the one with batteries included that goes balistic and bashes its keyboard when ever you tune it "Humiliation!!". Its got voice activated 10 recorded real life sayings like "WTF was that" and "OMG thats BS HAX" and the ever so popular " OMG camp somore, you noob ! ".

PS. I left the milk n cookies hidden behind my monitor this time, on account that the tooth fairy always steels the choc chip cookies and leaving notes about how bad it is for your teeth. Get a life your piece of $#@% fairy.

PSS. I would like a Dust-Dust2-InfernoPro sniperless server too.

This can be arranged. I will have a look at setting one of these servers up :)

Re: Spicing up ISGaming!

Firstly I would just like to point out that my post is mainly in regards to the CS:S servers.

Lol WingedDagger!

You have some good points, especially the one with the delay on joining the server.. I don't really see any good reason for it, unless im being stupid.. But as WD says, sometimes you get disconnected because of technical reasons and then you wait the whole night just to get a spot again.

And the people who dodge flashbangs..Sometimes you can hear your flash going right into his chut and you even see the damage of the flash hitting him but the person would just run straight to you with a one-shot heady. That's just ridiculous..or maybe im just the biggest noob ever.

Another thing that would make it more of a pleasure is if the admins could be a bit more present throughout the day. Sometimes there are real dodgy players and there is noone to do anything about it. It's really hard to tell who's cheating these days as everyone just writes you off as a "noob" if you point out dodgy players, but I don't remember it being like this 2 years ago..

Anyway, besides that I'd just like to say thank you to all the IS admins particularly on the CSS side for making the IS Gaming experience fun and well done on a well run gaming service :)

Re: Spicing up ISGaming!

And how about a CSS Mixed Maps fun server where the admins do some cool stuff like give everyone 1000 HP and go mad etc :P

That would be fun !

Re: Spicing up ISGaming!

Hey,

Sorry for the delayed response. I had a chat with WD and it made sense to remove the anti-reconnect module. The current plugin setup keeps your score and cash that you had before you reconnect. So there is no advantage to reconnecting anymore.

As for the other server, I am going to setup a mixed map server again... lets see if it takes off this time.
