Quake live explanation

Ok I want to know a few things:
1) Is quake live a game that you download (I assume so) and how big is it?
2) I hear the servers support only 1vs1 but I have seen youtube vids with more, so how many players does the SA servers accept (9 if i remember correctly)?
3) Ok so from what I understand I need to register with Quake live to play....is it plug and play after that or what?
4) What are major differences between Quake 3 and Quake Live, I hear "pros" always complaining the big difference in the two?
5) How active is it currently?
6) Anyone have an idea how much cap it uses (doesn't bother me as I have route sentry)?

Re: Quake live explanation

Ok soz I was lazy (busy with other work) but since then I have read up on Quake Live and can supply answers for the other readers.

1) From what I understand it is a browser plugin and is only 4 MBs but what I don't understand is quake 3 is about 300 mbs....now is it now all run from the server side but that would explain the offline trainers unless it is PDFs lol.

2) No it can actually support up to 16 players possibly even more

3) Register on Quake Live and then on it is a download then plug and play

4) Quake Live has more weapons, more official maps, and more addons.

5) Worldwide very, but in South Africa it seems to be picking up only in the evenings.  I don't know how it currently is as I haven't started playing yet but if you have correct me if I'm wrong.
6) No clue

Hi Halogen,

I can't give you exact answers to all the above questions... but  I don't know if you know of IRC, if you have it go on and join #ql . That is where all the die hard QuakeLive players are and Im sure they wont mind helping you out. If you don't know what IRC is or dont know how to use it just PM me and Ill help you set it up.

Re: Quake live explanation

It is free to play and you will only pay for the download from the site.

Go to www.quakelive.com and install the small plugin, it is 7megs and then after that is installed the game will actually download +- 300 megs or so.
If you have some cap to spare it comes HIGHLY recommended!
